T.G.I.F. with a Cuban Mojito

Made famous by Ernest Hemingway, a bar called La Bodeguita del Medio in Havana, Cuba is thought to have invented the Mojito. This recipe is rumored to be the original, authentic version of the light, fresh, minty concoction.

On a hot summer day there is nothing more refreshing than the minty cool flavor of a mojito.

Ingredients
  • 1 teaspoon powdered sugar
  • 2 ounces lime juice 1 lime
  • 4 mint leaves
  • 1 sprig of mint
  • 2 oz Havana Club white Rum
  • 2 ounces club soda
  • crushed ice
Method
  1. Place the mint leaves into a collins glass and squeeze 2 ounces of lime juice over it.

  2. Add the powdered sugar, then gently muddle the mint into the lime juice and sugar.
  3. Add crushed ice.
  4. Add the rum and stir.
  5. Top off with the club soda and garnish with a sprig of mint and a wedge of lime.
